Café Ferlucci is a charming Italian-style cafe on De Castelnau Street East, and it’s a favorite among local dog owners. The retro-Italian decor gives the place a nostalgic feel, and the owners are known for being genuine dog lovers. In fact, they’ve dedicated a section of their social media to photos of dogs who visit the cafe, which speaks to how much they appreciate their canine customers.
Ferlucci Jeans was founded in Montreal by Giovanni Pezzullo in 1980. Giovanni built the company from the ground up, having arrived from Italy just a few years prior. He had learned the trade in school and by working hands-on in the field. Originally, Ferlucci started making jeans in a small basement on Alexandra Street in the Mile Ex. After some time, they expanded and made their way to Montreal’s garment district. Chabanel is where the company thrived for the better part of a decade, making clothes and introducing new elements to the industry such as stretch denim.
Thirty-five years later, the next generation opened a neighbourhood coffee shop and brought the Ferlucci name back to life. If you take a good look, you will find original items that date back to the good ol’ days showcased on the café walls and shelves. Gianni Pezzullo and Megan Verdone also revived the brand and named it Ferlucci Equipment; creating clothing and coffee-related lifestyle products.
